Biography

My name is Kaitlyn Barlow and I am passionate about art and finding ways to connect people with art through experience, education, and creativity.  As an artist and an art educator, my goal is to produce work that has relevance, meaning, and beauty.  I am  currently completing the teaching licensure program for art education at Meredith College in North Carolina.  I graduated in 2007, from Guilford College in Greensboro, North Carolina, with a BA in Art.  Then I moved to Brooklyn, New York to pursue my MA in Media Arts at Long Island University-Brooklyn Campus.  While I was in New York, I had some great experiences that helped me grow as an artist. I worked as an assistant to photographers Markus Klinko & Indrani, working  with such high profile clients as Will Smith, Jada Pinkett Smith, Vanessa Williams, Eve, Alicia Keys, Swizz Beatz, Iman, Padma Lakshmi, Kelly Ripa, Marc Eco, Perez Hilton, Richie Rich, Lindsay Lohan, Kim Kardashian, and Daphne Guinness. I also worked with photographer Indira Cesarine, assisting  with the launch of The Untitled Magazine. When I completed my master’s degree in 2013, I moved back to North Carolina, where I taught for a semester as an adjunct instructor in the Art Department at Guilford College. That’s where I developed a love for teaching and decided that I wanted to teach art full time.  I am excited to be completing the Art K-12 licensure program at Meredith and look forward to starting a full time position as an art teacher.
